The
idea of making personalized wrapping paper came about in 1996 just
before Christmas. Last minute Christmas shopping as usual was leaving
me with very little time to get presents for the entire family, let
alone wrapping them. I did manage to get all the shopping done but
forgot the Christmas paper to wrap everything. With all of the presents
in my car at work I decided I was going to make my own wrapping paper.
I was a graphic artist working in a small printing company and had
a know how to create something that I knew would work. So for each
person on my list I created a unique design and added his or her name
to it. Each design had an assortment of fonts and a wide range of
colors just like the sample below.
After
getting my packages wrapped, I sat back relieved and pretty satisfied
with the results. But I wasn't quite prepared for the reaction of
those who saw my creations. People raved! They said I should do this
full time and even offered lists of friends who would order regularly.
Well,
I was a little taken back, but I thought, "You know, I may have something
here." So I decided to branch out the next year and create even more
designs for family and friends and expanded into other occasions like
birthdays, baby showers, graduations etc. And then after several successful
years, I've decided to take it to the public. The rest is history...
